Come and pledge with me! ^.^

Sponsored Post

In conjunction with the Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2014, seven of its founding sponsors are raising money for Water.org through #SIWWPledge.

For every Like/Pledge made by online fans, #SIWWPledge sponsors will donate S$1 to Water.org! If your question is what / where to "like" to pledge?!

The answer is right here.. ON SELFIES!!! Hahaha! How relevant and convenient is this right!

You might have seen on my instagram that every "Like" is a pledge is $1 donated to Water.org

Isn't it AWESOME?!?! I never felt like taking selfies can be meaningful like this haha. So if you can please go like that picture on my instagram okay thank you!

It's one of the official pledge channel for this campaign. So far there's 14k likes!!! YAY!!!

People are kind and helpful! That's a lot more than my usual selfies haha. Deheck i wish every photo i post is meaningful like that lol!

SO LET THE CAMHO OUT~!!! Haha!
But anyway i am just taking the chance to spam my selfies O.O

Jokes aside..

Did you know:

That one in nine people in the world lack access to clean water.

Which leads to about 780 million people worldwide.

About 3.4 million people die each year from water-related diseases. You could read more on http://water.org/water-crisis/one-billion-affected

As a woman, reading this just make me feel very 心寒. It's so frustrating that they don't have choice and that the lack of water has to affect and change their lives forever.

Isn't it quite an irony that each time a sensational mishap occur for example.. A plane crash.. Or a disastrous typhoon or an earthquake.. People around the world get together (at least online) to #prayforthis #prayforthat but here's an actual problem that kills so many people around the world..

But sadly i'd say this pressing issue we are talking about here, the lack of water that is killing about 3.4 million people yearly, worldwide.. Is not the most "popular" problem people pay attention to.

Cox i'd assume that people who has an electronic device to news and all would have decent sanitation condition in the places they resides in and no one would out of nowhere go Google about something that is so easily taken for granted:

Water
Something that can be easily attained for you and me but not for the rest of the world out there..
Come to think of it.. You all know i MUST have a bottle of water in my bag AT ALL TIMES right? Haha. I cannot imagine my frustration and helplessness if i cannot have a bottle of clean water to quench my thirst / wash my hands / legs as and when i need to =X

Now that i know how precious water could be to someone who needs it for survival.. I will remember to be thankful and to save as much water as i can!

Admittedly i only hear of these problems from the lack of water through this campaign and i am glad i can play a small part to help raise awareness for more people to understand and to help.

You might question yourself.. "What can i help with?" Or you might think like i did initially.. The problem is too huge to be solved. But that's not true.. Changes can be made from you and me!

But first we gotta look at the root of these problem. I got these information from Water.org so if you're interested, you may check the site out.

This is the cause of the problem and a plan to make it better.

Co-founded by Gary White and Matt Damon, Water.org is a non-profit organisation that has transformed hundreds of communities in Africa, South Asia and Central America by providing access to safe water and sanitation. Matt Damon was awarded the World Economic Forum Crystal Award earlier this year for the organisation’s efforts to solve the global water crisis.

"Access to water isn’t an end in itself. Access to water is access to education, access to work, access - above all - to the kind of future we want for our own families, and all the members of our human family," said Matt Damon, co-founder of Water.org.

This paragraph made me love Matt Damon more hahaha.

So if you could help me and help everyone in need but lack of clean water.. You could join me in this movement by SIWW's to rally the global community towards finding innovative and sustainable technological and financial solutions to meet safe water and sanitation needs globally.

One of the easiest way to start is to treasure what you have to enjoy that others have to struggle hard to have. So if you could.. Save water~! Some simple ways are..

Remember to switch off the shower when you're not using it. Like if you're lathering soap / shampoo you don't need a running shower head.
Water the plants with reusable water. Like Josh and my parents, they will take the water used for rice-washing, to water the plants. Reuse when you can!
Remember to use a mug when you're brushing so you won't let the tap run for longer than it has to. Reduce. reduce, reduce..
And erm.. Try NOT to take a bath in a full bathtub hahaha. But if you really need to relax.. The water can later be reused to wash / rinse the floor outside of the house..

Just kidding.. "Relax" is not a solution. Lolol.

So to sum up the pointers above, to reuse and reduce water-usage is a good way to start but there are also two other interesting ways you can now help! Remember i was spamming lotsa selfies earlier?!
